Lethbridge runners take top spots at Scotiabank Calgary Marathon

CALGARY – Two runners from Lethbridge have won the full AND half Scotiabank Calgary marathon races today (May 28).

Daniel Kipkoech took the marathon, with a time of 2:22:33, beating second place competitor Johnathan Chisoo from Eldoret by more than five and a half minutes.

The 30-year old elite runner originally from Kenya, has won a number of high profile races,  including the Vancouver BMO Marathon in 2016 and 2017. 

37-year old Kip Kangogo, also originally from Kenya, won the half marathon with a time of 1:06:27, beating closest competitor Geoff Martinson from Vancouver, by 6 seconds.

Kangogo has been a member of the Canadian Olympic team, and has also taken part in the PanAm Games, along with many other races.
