Drugs seized in traffic stops on Blood Reserve
STAND OFF – Two stops of vehicles suspected in the drug trade have led to multiple arrests on the Blood Reserve.
Members of the Blood Tribe Police Service’s Crime Reduction and Patrol Services units stopped a suspected vehicle on the reserve June 27. According to a news release, officers seized 19.5 “Oxy 80” fentanyl tablets worth an estimated $1170. Also seized was more than $300 cash and four cell phones.
Three men and three women, all from Stand Off, were arrested and appeared before a justice of the peace charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl and possession of the proceeds of crime. They’re all scheduled to appear in court July 7 in Cardston.
Another traffic stop June 28 led to the arrests of a man and woman from Lethbridge. The two are charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl and methamphetamine, as well as possession of the proceeds of crime. One is also charged with trespassing, under the new Kainai/Blood Tribe trespass law. Both are scheduled to appear in Cardston provincial court Monday, July 10.
