Garth Brooks announces Calgary tour date

Jul 19, 2017 | 8:38 AM

CALGARY — It could be the last opportunity to see one of music’s biggest superstars in Alberta or Saskatchewan.

Garth Brooks’ World Tour is headed for Calgary, with one show announced for Saturday, Sept. 9 at the Scotiabank Saddledome. Promoters say it will be the final stop on this tour in either of the two provinces.

Tickets will be available online or by phone only from Ticketmaster starting at 10 a.m. Friday, July 28.

Brooks’ world tour played to nine sold-out audiences at Rogers Place in Edmonton in February. Previous appearances in Calgary include three shows at the Saddledome in August 1996 and a special concert for the Calgary Stampede’s centennial in 2012.

The number one selling U.S. solo artist of all time, Brooks is known to add performances as each one sells out, partly in an effort to foil scalping.
