CHIEF MOUNTAIN – It’s another sign of fall.

Saturday, Sept. 30 is the final day of the season to enter Canada at the Chief Mountain Border Crossing.

It closes at 6 p.m. and won’t reopen until May.

The Canada Border Services Agency said Chief Mountain saw traffic of 25,000 vehicles carrying 68,000 travellers between May and August this year.

At one point during September its closure was forced by the Kenow wildfire.

There are five other ports of entry in Alberta, which operate year round: Coutts (which is open 24 hours a day), Del Bonita, Carway, Aden, and Wild Horse (which reverts to winter hours of 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 1.)
