LETHBRIDGE – Southern Alberta is well respresented in the opposition critic duties announced Tuesday, Oct. 31 by new United Conservative Party leader Jason Kenney.

Little Bow MLA Dave Schneider will serve as Forestry critic, while Livingstone-Macleod MLA Pat Stier was given critic responsibilities for Municipal Affairs.

Grant Hunter, MLA for Cardston-Taber-Warner, was named Labour critic.

Critic duties for the high-profile Finance portfolio go to Drew Barnes, MLA for Cypress-Medicine Hat.

Jean not included in critic duties

Former Wildrose leader Brian Jean says it was his request not to be given a critic portfolio.

Jean, who lost out to Kenney in the UCP leadership race, said he wants to focus on his family and constituents.

He has not yet decided whether to run in the next election.
