Alberta population passes 4.3 million mark

ALBERTA – The population of Alberta has surpassed 4.3 million.

Quarterly population estimates released Dec. 20 by Statistics Canada put Alberta at 4,306,039 as of Oct. 1, an increase of .46 per cent from July 1. In the past year the province’s population has grown by 55,623, or 1.3 per cent.

That growth rate is tied with British Columbia, while Prince Edward Island, Ontario, Manitoba, and Yukon all grew at a faster pace over the past year.

Canada’s population increased to 36,885,049. That’s up .48 per cent for the quarter, and 1.29 per cent over the past year.
