LETHBRIDGE – Police are looking for a Lincoln MKX after an officer was hit and dragged Tuesday morning (Jan. 30) in south Lethbridge.

According to police, they received a call about a suspicious vehicle near 20 Ave. S, and went to investigate.

One officer on foot noticed the Lincoln pull into a parking lot in the 2100 Bl. of Palm Road S and recognized it as one that had been reported stolen.

Police say the officer approached one of the doors of the SUV and asked the driver to exit. When he didn’t do so, the officer tried the door handle and was dragged a short distance when the SUV drove forward.

The vehicle then reversed, hitting the officer and pushing him back several feet before he was able to get out of the way to avoid being run over.

The driver took off and turned east onto 20 Ave. S. Since then, police have not been able to locate him or the vehicle.

The driver is described as Caucasian, with light coloured curly or messy hair, light coloured eyes and was wearing a white t-shirt.

The vehicle’s license plate is BBT-8529.

Anyone with information or who may have seen the stolen car is asked to contact Lethbridge Police at 403-328-444, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
