Province’s new framework with pharmacists could save $150-million
EDMONTON – The Alberta government says a new collaborative funding framework with pharmacists will save $150-million over the next two years.
The province says the framework with the Alberta Pharmacists’ Association will reduce health-care costs by slowing the growth of spending on government-sponsored drug programs.
Under the agreement, dispensing fees will drop 15 cents to 12 dollars, 15 cents and a limit will be introduced on frequent dispensing fees of three per day per patient.
Monthly dispensing fees will be limited to two per drug per 28 days.
