Two men accused of second degree murder elect trial by judge and jury
LETHBRIDGE – Two Lethbridge men charged with second degree murder have elected trial by judge and jury in the Court of Queen’s Bench, with a preliminary inquiry.
The prelim for 19-year-old Simon Scout and 23-year-old Rylan Twigg, which has been scheduled to run July 16-20, will determine if there is enough evidence for the matter to proceed to trial.
The charges are connected to the 2017 death of 45-year-old Kenrick First Rider.
Both men are in custody, however, Scout will be released after he finishes serving a 90-day sentence – only 60 days remain when factoring in time already served – that he was given Wednesday, Mar. 28, after he admitted to breaching his previous bail conditions on three separate occasions, by being outside of his home after his court-imposed curfew.
