LETHBRIDGE – A man who police allege is part of the Mad Cowz gang has been released on bail with the consent of the Crown prosecutor.

Corey Amyotte was granted bail Friday, April 27, on conditions that he provided $2,000 cash, abide by a curfew, and have no contact with his four co-accused. His case was then adjourned to May 14.

According to police, the organized crime and gang team of ALERT Lethbridge arrested five individuals on Feb. 28, as part of an investigation into drug trafficking in Lethbridge and on the Blood First Nation Reserve.

The initial information linking the 33-year-old from Manitoba to drug trafficking in the region came from Blood Tribe Police, while the Lethbridge Police Service helped execute search warrants and make the arrests at a downtown hotel. Two vehicles were also searched, and one was seized as offence related property.

As part of that search, police reportedly seized approximately $8,000 worth of drugs, including fentanyl, carfentanil, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, codeine, and oxycodone.

The four co-accused – Harmeet Singh Bhachu, Brittany Bird, Tara Lynn Gearo, and Coral Olivos – are also scheduled to return to court on May 14.
