Lethbridge Public Library encouraging the community to read all summer long

LETHBRIDGE – The Lethbridge Public Library believes summer is the perfect time to read for the sheer pleasure of it and to lose all sense of time as you turn the pages.

To help with that, a number of summer programs during July and August will let kids spend time at the library picking out books to read:

1. TD Summer Reading Club – This program runs from July 3 to Aug. 31, where kids can participate at the Main Branch, The Crossings Branch, and the Bookmobile. 

2. Ready, Set, Read! – register as a youth volunteer or a reader for this program on the Library’s website. It offers young children a chance to read with a volunteer and is offered at the Main Branch and The Crossings Branch.

3. Frontier College Reading Tent – People can look for it at the Main Branch from July 5 to Aug. 9 in Kids’ Corner and July 9 to July 30 and August 10 in the Atrium at The Crossings Branch. The focus will be on literacy over the summer months with the Frontier College Reading Tent. It’s aimed at all ages, and the Reading Tent has physical and non-physical activities based on reading and writing.

The Teen Summer Library Challenge is also now live. Until August 31, teens in Grades 7 to 12 can pick up a challenge form, or download it from the website, mark off completed challenges, and enter to win prizes.

The Friends of the Lethbridge Public Library is also inviting residents to attend their summer sellout Book Sale that will be held in the Theatre Gallery at the Main Branch on June 30, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. A release states there will be an excellent selection of adult, young adult, and children’s books. They ask you bring your own bags: $5 per bag and $10 for large bags.
