Search warrants for three north-side homes results in trio facing drug charges

LETHBRIDGE —  Information provided by the public is credited for helping curtail illegal activity in a north-side neighborhood.

The LPS Priority Crimes Unit conducted a joint investigation with SCAN (Safer Communities and Neighborhoods), between June 19 and 28, which resulted in search warrants being obtained for three residences between the 1500 block and 1800 block of 7 Avenue North.

Items seized from among the homes includes: suspected Methamphetamine (pills), Carfentanil and Heroin (all to be officially identified); 10 bikes, electronics and tools (all believed to be stolen); and a can of bear spray.

Those charged include:

37-year old Gregg Petryga, who is charged with Possession of Methamphetamine

32-year old Steven Klein, who is facing Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine, Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Fentanyl, Possession for the purpose of trafficking Heroin, and Possession of a weapon Dangerous to Public Peace

24-year old Brett Voytko is charged with Possession of Fentanyl, Breach of Recognizance, and Causing a child to be endangered (Drug Endangered Children Act)

Another man located at one of the homes, 35-year old Christopher Gerard, was arrested for several outstanding warrants.

Officers from the Priority Crimes Unit are searching through the recovered property in order to link items to submitted property crime reports.  When links are established, the owners will be notified.
