Two Bulls win league awards
LETHBRIDGE – Two members of the Lethbridge Bulls have been honoured with annual awards by the Western Major Baseball League.
Infielder Kaleb Warden was named Rookie of the Year. The University of Arkansas at Monticello student had a batting average of .369 with seven home runs and eight doubles. His stats for the season also include 38 runs batted in and 18 walks.
The award for Canadian Rookie of the Year went to catcher Jaret Semeniuk. The Edmonton product, who attends Prairie Baseball Academy, had seven doubles and 12 RBIs in 30 games with a batting average of .371.
Other awards went to Weyburn’s Corey Wheaton for Most Valuable Player; Medicine Hat’s Andrew Murphy is Coach of the Year; Riley MacDonald of Brooks was honoured with the Outstanding Achievement Award for setting a new league single season home run record (20); and Craig Smith of Okotoks earned an Honourable Mention for 15 saves, most in a single season in league history.
