Court backlog forces trial adjournment for men accused in west side standoff
LETHBRIDGE – A backlog of cases in Lethbridge Provincial Court Monday, Aug. 20, has forced a delay for two men who were expecting to go to trial.
The trial for Brian Fulljames and Forrest Jensen had to be adjourned to Aug. 30, with Fulljames’ lawyer, Greg White, explaining that other trials scheduled for the same courtroom are facing Jordan implications – giving them priority to go ahead.
“We could not have got that trial done today,” said White, while speaking with Lethbridge News Now outside the courtroom. He added that they will now use the extra time to discuss the matter with the Crown prosecutor.
“We want to see what else we can do to try to resolve this,” continued White, before saying that setting another trial date is still an option.
