Two men charged in connection with July street robbery

LETHBRIDGE – Two men from the Blood Reserve have been charged in connection with a violent street robbery last month.

According to Lethbridge Police, a man was walking in the area of Mayor Magrath Drive and 3 Avenue South around 10 p.m. on July 17, when two unknown men approached him and asked the victim to buy them alcohol. Police say that when he refused, one of the men held him down while the other beat him until his was unconscious. He later awoke to find his wallet and other items had been stolen.

Following the release of surveillance images from a store where the victim’s bank card was used, police identified the suspects. One male was subsequently taken into custody, while a warrant has been issued for the second.

Twenty-year-old Matthew Kyle Chief Moon has been charged with robbery and possession of the proceeds of crime. He has been released by a Justice of the Peace and is scheduled to appear to court Sept. 4.

Meanwhile, police are asking for your help to locate 18-year-old Dre Kade Sweetgrass. He faces charges of robbery, possession of the proceeds of crime, use of a stolen credit card, and three counts of breaching a recognizance.
