Lethbridge woman facing robbery charge fires lawyer

LETHBRIDGE – The process is going back to square one for a 26-year-old Lethbridge woman who is charged with robbery and assault with a weapon, as she begins searching for a new lawyer.

“Can I get an adjournment to get another lawyer?” Constance Red Crow asked the court, while appearing via CCTV from the Lethbridge Correctional Centre Friday afternoon, Aug. 31. Her lawyer, Greg White, then withdrew from the case and it was moved to Sept. 14.

Red Crow is charged in connection with an incident at a south side grocery store on July 17.

Around 11:15 that morning, Lethbridge Police say a woman entered London Road Market, took several items – including a glass bottle – and left without paying. A store employee confronted the woman and a man she met outside, asking that the items be returned. Instead, the male punched the employee and the two engaged in a physical altercation – which was recorded and posted to social media. While they struggled, the woman then allegedly smashed the glass bottle and used the broken end as a weapon. As the employee and a citizen who stopped to help then backed off, the two suspects fled the scene, before being arrested a short time later.

Two days later, Dennis Noskey admitted to his role in the incident and pleaded guilty to a charge of robbery. He received an 18-month jail sentence and charges of possession of a weapon and assault with a weapon were withdrawn by the Crown.
