City surveying residents on housing issues

Sep 26, 2018 | 11:26 AM

LETHBRIDGE – The city wants to hear from residents about housing-related issues such as affordability.

A short online questionnaire has been set up to gather people’s views, as the city works on developing a municipal housing strategy. The survey takes around 10 minutes to complete, and responses are kept confidential.

Councillor Belinda Crowson, who is chairing the task force that will develop the strategy, said in a news release that they want public involvement right from the start. The task force also includes councillors Blaine Hyggen and Rob Miyashiro as well as Mayor Chris Spearman.

The hope is that the strategy can be referred to by all levels of government as they make decisions about affordable and social housing. It’s expected to be complete by March 2019.
