LETHBRIDGE – With Ottawa hoping to increase the size of its Reserve Force, Lethbridge’s Army Reserve unit is hoping to encourage more people to sign up and learn skills that can be transferred to their day-to-day jobs.

The annual Open House at the Vimy Ridge Armoury is Saturday, Sept. 29. The job fair will include interactive displays and other activities and showcase employment opportunities. It’s being hosted by the 20th Independent Field Battery, RCA and will include the opportunity to sign up.

The defence policy includes a plan to add 1,500 reservists, to bring Canada’s reservist strength to 30,000. As part of that, the time required to apply will be reduced to 30 days.

The open house and job fair are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Vimy Ridge Armoury, 337 Stubb Ross Road.
