U of L student receives 4-H scholarship
OTTAWA – A first-year agriculture student at the University of Lethbridge is one of four recipients of the L.E.A.D. Scholarship.
Emmett Sawyer received the Leadership Excellence Award of Distinction from 4-H Canada and CN for the Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security Pillar. Originally from Acme, northeast of Calgary, Sawyer is a 4-H Alberta Ambassador for the Calgary region and will represent the province at the Canadian Young Speakers for Agriculture competition.
His career goal is to head an agricultural company, then pursue a federal political career.
The other recipients are Emma Kaliel, a University of Alberta engineering student from Westlock County, for the Science and Technology Pillar; Audrey Morneau of Quebec, who studies at McGill, for the Environment & Healthy Living Pillar; and McAuley Bellows of Newfoundland, a student at Memorial University, for the Community Engagement & Communications Pillar.
