LETHBRIDGE – With winter around the corner, the three City of Lethbridge yard waste sites will soon close for the season.

Yard waste sites are open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the following locations until Friday, Nov. 30:

– Bridge Drive West Recycling Station – at the top of Bridge Dr. W. hill, right before the junction of Bridge Dr. W. and University Dr.
– Stafford Drive North Recycling Station – located at the junction of Stafford Dr. N. and Scenic Dr. N.
South Side Recycling Station – located on 28 Ave. S. between the Lethbridge Soccer Complex and Lethbridge Judo Club

In 2018, a total of 1.41 million kilograms of yard waste was diverted from the landfill, and the weight of this yard waste is equivalent to 870 mid-sized cars.

Grass, leaves and garden waste collected at yard waste sites is composted at the Waste & Recycling Centre and used in city parks and planting beds.

The Waste & Recycling Centre will accept yard waste for composting between Dec. 1 and Mar. 31, with no disposal fees charged to city residents on Saturdays.

Recycling stations remain open year-round.
