Important week for Taber Food Bank Christmas efforts

Dec 3, 2018 | 10:52 AM

TABER – The effort to help the less fortunate have a Merry Christmas is in high gear this week in Taber.

The Taber Food Bank said it’s an important time not just for Christmas, but to keep the shelves stocked all winter. Among this week’s events is Stuff a Bus. Students will be at the Co-op and IGA stores Tuesday, Dec. 4 collecting donations of food, gifts, and cash. The donations will be delivered to the food bank by members of the Taber Fire Department.

Volunteers are being requested for sorting at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. Thursday and Friday will see the 12 Days of Christmas effort to collect the 12 most wanted items: peanut butter, canned fruit, cranberry sauce, pancake mix, dill pickles, rice, pancake syrup, sugar, spaghetti, chocolate chips, juice (1L size) and Ichiban noodles.

People can also donate at Saturday’s Family Cowboy Christmas at the Taber Agri-Plex from 1-4:30 p.m.

The Taber Food Bank expects to help at least the same number of families as last year’s 263. Registrations for hampers are open until Dec. 14.

The food bank’s website has the complete Christmas wish list for donations, as well as the general most-needed items, and a link to donate.
