Hamelin, Boutin, Cournoyer win silver medals at short track World Cup
DRESDEN, Germany — Five-time Olympic medallist Charles Hamelin added to his trophy case with a silver medal on Saturday at a short-track speedskating World Cup.
Fellow Canadians Kim Boutin and Charle Cournoyer also took second place in their respective events.
Hamelin, who has three Olympic gold medals, finished second on Saturday in the 1,500-metre distance, clocking in at 2 minutes 15.155 seconds. South Korea’s Kim Gun Woo (2:15.123) and Lim Hyo Jun (2: 15.180) rounded out the podium.
“It felt super good to have been on the podium today,” said Hamelin, the reigning world champion. “We started the season a bit late with our new coach, but it’s starting to pay off.
