Gold, bronze for Alberta on day three at 2019 Games
RED DEER — Team Alberta won two more medals on the third day of competition at the 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer.
A gold in women’s moguls and bronze medal in men’s 1500m short track speed skating bring Alberta’s tally to 13 medals (5-5-3), good for second place in the medal standings behind Quebec.
MacKenzie Schwinghamer won moguls gold Monday at Canyon Ski Area just one day after winning the silver medal in the aerials competition.
“It’s the best feeling in the world! I am speechless. This is definitely the top feeling I have ever had,” said Schwinghamer, who is 19. “I was in the start gate with so many thoughts in my head. I stopped and said to myself ‘I’ve got this, just go out and do it.’ For the rest of the run, I’ve just thought about that. It was probably the best run of my life!”
