Woman charged with counterfeit money offences will head to trial

Feb 27, 2019 | 1:12 PM

LETHBRIDGE – A trial has been scheduled for a 34-year old Lethbridge woman charged with numerous offences involving counterfeit money.

Kristina Zinger has been charged with possessing counterfeit money, uttering counterfeit money, making counterfeit money and possession of stolen property under $5,000.

She was supposed to attend Lethbridge Provincial Court Wednesday, Feb. 27, but failed to do so.

The Crown and defence both asked Justice J. Maher to hold a warrant for her arrest until her scheduled trial date on August 13, 2019.

Case History

Zinger was originally charged with the offences early last year, and as part of her release, she was to live at a residence in Lethbridge County and post $2,000 no cash bail – to be paid if there were any breaches of her conditions.

On March 1, officers from the Economic Crime and Priority Crimes Unit executed three search warrants – at a hotel room, a westside home and a U-Haul – which resulted in the seizure of printer cartridges, several sheets of paper and clippings of counterfeit U.S. currency.

Police said some of those U.S. bills had serial numbers matching those of several bills that had been passed out at local businesses in Lethbridge.
