Lethbridge man charged following knife-point robbery

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge Police have arrested and charged a man in connection to a knife-point robbery.

According to a release from the police service, the incident happened on March 20, 2019. At around 11:30 p.m., a taxi driver picked up a male along the 1500 block of 1 Avenue North and drove him to the 500 block of 12 B Street North.

The 31-year-old passenger pulled a knife and demanded cash and the driver’s cell phone. Both were turned over and the passenger fled into a nearby alley.

The LPS said the driver was not injured. The suspect was later identified. On March 21, he went to the police station and turned himself in.

Thomas Justin Brown, of Lethbridge, has been charged with robbery. He appeared before a Justice of the Peace and was released on recognizance.

Brown is scheduled to appear in court on April 15, 2019.
