No injuries as lights, tiles fall from Melcor Centre overhang

LETHBRIDGE – Three cars were damaged Monday afternoon, after tiles and lights from the underside of an overhang at Melcor Centre in downtown Lethbridge fell to the ground below.

Lethbridge Police and Fire/EMS attended the scene. Platoon Chief Rob Chollak said it didn’t look like anyone was injured.

“Yeah, just some property damage, but there’s no personal injuries at all that I’m aware of.”

Chollak said it was up to the mall maintenance people to find out exactly what happened. He thought it could be water damage that caused the tiles and drywall to fall.

A large portion of the area was cordoned off to pedestrians, as mall staff were called to investigate.

The building is located near the corner of 4 Ave. S. and 4 St. S. across from the Lethbridge Courthouse.
