ALERT arrests two in Southern Alberta carfentanil trafficking
LETHBRIDGE — A four-month investigation by the organized crime section from the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team has resulted in two arrests for carfentanil trafficking.
The investigation wrapped up March 26, with the search of two Lethbridge homes. Officers seized numerous drugs valued at $20,000.
The seizure included: 468 suspected carfentanil pills; 30 grams of cocaine; 48 codeine pills; 3.2 grams of methamphetamine; and $1,250 cash proceeds of crime.
It’s alleged that 32-year old Corey Amyotte and 26-year old Keisha Tallow, were involved in trafficking carfentanil in southern Alberta, including supplying the Blood Tribe Reserve.
The investigation began in November 2018, when information was shared about the accused’s involvement in drug trafficking. Amyotte has been the subject of two previous ALERT investigations and is allegedly associated with the Manitoba-based Mad Cowz gang.
The investigation involved ALERT Lethbridge’s organized crime team, Blood Tribe Police, Lethbridge Police, and Taber Police.
