Three-year sentence for man charged with dangerous driving and possession of stolen property

LETHBRIDGE – A 31-year old Lethbridge man has been sentenced to three years in a federal penitentiary after pleading guilty to several charges including breach of conditions, dangerous driving, disqualified driving and possession of stolen property under $5,000.

According to court documents, Michael Hahn will get credit for 178 days, or about six months. He will also have his license suspended for one year.

Back in February, a warrant was issued for Hahn’s arrest, after he failed to show up for court as required. He was to live with his mother, however, she came to court and told a judge she didn’t know where her son was. Hahn was arrested again, a short time later.

Lethbridge Police say on Nov. 29, 2018, they responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle along Fairmont Point South and noted the vehicle had been reported stolen. An officer found the vehicle being driven by someone known to police. Police say the officer told the driver to get out of the car, but the suspect put the vehicle in gear, hit a parked police car and forced the officer back, in order to avoid being run over.
