Troy Reeb to receive honorary degree from Lethbridge College

LETHBRIDGE, AB – A Lethbridge College graduate is receiving an honorary degree from his alma mater.

Troy Reeb, who graduated from the school’s Communication Arts – Broadcast Journalism program in 1988, has gone on to a successful career in media.

He is the current Executive Vice President, Broadcast Networks for Corus Entertainment. Reeb started out as a small town radio reporter, and worked s a parliamentary reporter in Ottawa and later as Global Television’s Washington Bureau Chief on his way to the executive leadership team at Corus/Global.

As part of his role with Corus, Reeb oversees Global Television and its 15 local stations, as well as 44 speciality TV stations, 39 radio stations and all of Corus’ online platforms and apps.

For the past 13 years, Reeb has sponsored an internship for Digital Communications and Media students at Lethbridge College. Each year, once student spends time as Reeb’s guest at his Corus TV and radio stations in Toronto and Ottawa.

In 2003, he was named the school’s Distinguished Alumnus and wil be the 19^th person to receive an honorary degree from Lethbridge College since the award was first given out in 1986.

Reeb was recognized on Thursday, April 25 during the college’s Honouring Excellence event. He spoke at the event, and his speech can be viewed below.

Reeb was joined by alumni award recipients Rick Lewchuk, Dr. Sandra Davidson, Jason Vandenhoek and former internship winner Quinn Ohler.

He will receive his honorary Bachelor of Applied Arts degree at Lethbridge College’s convocation ceremony on Friday, April 26 at the Enmax Centre.
