PINCHER CREEK — Charges are pending in a property theft case that involved four RCMP detachments and the Piikani Police.

Just after 10:00 Tuesday (April 30) morning, Pincher Creek RCMP responded to a rural area after a property owner indicated he was in pursuit of his stolen quad. The property owner was returning to his acreage when he noticed a man driving away from his yard with his quad.

Officers received updates from the property owner as he chased his quad through a field north east of Pincher Creek near Hwy 785.

As the RCMP closed in on the location the property owner reported, the suspect crashed the quad and jumped into a waiting F-350. The property owner and neighbour who witnessed the pursuit attempted to block the F-350 from leaving the area with their vehicles. However, the driver of the F350 pushed their vehicles out of the way and turned onto Highway-785 as RCMP members from Pincher Creek and Piikani arrived.

Police determined the F-350 had been stolen from Raymond. After a short pursuit the truck lost control near Summer View, two male occupants then fled on foot. A female passenger in the stolen F350 was taken into custody without incident.

Members from RCMP detachments in Pincher Creek, Claresholm, Fort MacLeod, Crowsnest Pass and the Piikani police stepped up containment of the area. An RCMP K-9 unit was used to search for the two suspects and was able to locate one of the men.

The second man is still at-large and the investigation continues. Charges against the male and female are pending.
