May 12, 2019 | 11:25 AM

LETHBRIDGE — The Fort Whoop-Up summer season began with booms and bangs that reverberated along the coulees Saturday (May 11) afternoon.

The historic centre invited the South Alberta Horse Artillery to be part of the Cannon Day event, to provide information and re-enactments with a replica cannon that the Fort had in the late 1800s.

Fort Whoop-Up Site Coordinator, Natasha Gray, was excited to host the Artillery group.

“These performances, with cannon similar to those used by the Fort’s original inhabitants, will be very exciting for our visitors.”

LethbridgeNewsNOW videographer, Brandyn Montgomery, captured the activity and information about the cannon used:

Fort Whoop-Up will be open through September 2. The background on the Fort and a calendar of activities can be found on the Fort Whoop-Up website.
