LETHBRIDGE, AB – With construction winding down on the Lethbridge Regional Park ‘n’ Ride Transit Terminal, work will soon begin to repair roads, enhance pedestrian safety and increase traffic control measure around the site.

There will be a series of road closures and parking bans to complete this work over the next two months. This will impact the alley between the Post Office and Park ‘n’ Ride as well as 5 Ave. S between 8 St S. and 7 St. S.

Work will begin in the alley at the northwest corner of the Park ‘n’ Ride and will continue clockwise around the site. This work is expected to be completed by the end of July.

There will be new signal lights installed at the 5 Ave. S. intersections on both 8 and 7 St. S. These signals are required to accommodate the additional traffic anticipated with the opening of the Park ‘n’ Ride.

Sidewalks will be constructed with ‘bulb-outs’ to enhance pedestrian safety, and those are curb extensions that reduce the crossing distance and improves sight lines.

Lethbridge Transit will be rerouted around the construction, but the detour will not impact route times or pickup/drop-off locations.

The City of Lethbridge is expecting the regional Park ‘n’ Ride Transit Terminal to create a vibrant, safe and convenient transit hub in downtown Lethbridge. The facility will provide residents with a comfortable and secure location to access City transit services that are protected from weather and offers amenities such as ticketing and washroom facilities.

This project includes a three-level parking structure adding 293 stalls of needed downtown parking. The Park ‘n’ Ride is expected to be operational by early September.
