Judgement and sentencing, psychiatric assessment ordered – among several cases heard in Lethbridge court Friday

LETHBRIDGE, AB – A judgement and sentencing date has been set for a 33-year-old Lethbridge man, in connection with a shooting at a home on Heritage Boulevard West, April 18, 2018.

Robert John Sheppard is facing 12 charges, including attempted murder and assault with a weapon. He will be back in court July 22. He appeared in court in person on Friday, June 28.

Irving

April Dawn Irving’s case will be in front of a judge once again on July 24. At that time according to her lawyer Bjoren Wolkmann, an agreed statement of facts in her case will be entered into court records.

A Pre-Sentencing Report may also be ordered at that time, if necessary. Irving is facing 14 charges, including animal cruelty and neglect involving more than 200 dogs, some of which were also found dead on her property near Milk River in 2015.

Hobkirk-Onate

And a 21-year-old Ottawa man of no fixed address, charged in connection with a brutal assault on a 75-year-old Lethbridge woman in her own home on May 22, will undergo a 30-day psychiatric assessment.

The testing will determine whether Adam Hall Hobkirk-Onate can be held criminally responsible for his actions. He is currently being held at the Lethbridge Correctional Centre.
