FORT MACLEOD, AB – The Town of Fort Macleod is warning residents that there have been numerous bear sightings.

It is unclear whether locals are reporting the same bear or if there are multiple, but sightings have occurred both within town limits and near the River Valley Wilderness Park.

Alberta Fish and Wildlife has been contacted and has placed a trap in the Girl Guide Camp. This was set up because, according to the municipality, “There has been a bear sighted which seems to no longer fear humans.”

The Town of Fort Macleod is asking anyone in the River Valley area to be cautious and to keep their dogs on a leash.
