Man caught inside Lethbridge Police bike compound

LETHBRIDGE, AB – It’s not quite like allegedly stealing a cell phone and trying to sell it back to an undercover police officer in the police station “Safe Exchange Zone”, but it’s close.

Lethbridge Police say on July 3, around 11:20 p.m. the front desk Commissionaire saw a male breaking into the police bike compound, just west of the main building.

In the compound at any given time, there can be dozens of bikes that have been stolen or lost, and recovered.

Police say the man had not only scaled the chain link fence, but had also gone over the razor wire on top of it, and was inside the compound selecting a bike.

Almost immediately, officers came out of the main police headquarters building and confronted the man. He was arrested and charged.

32-year-old Kyle Joseph English of Standoff has been charged with one count of break and enter. He is currently in custody waiting for a judicial interim release hearing.
