UPDATE: Officials recover body of man killed in hiking accident in Crowsnest Pass

CROWSNEST PASS, AB – UPDATE: On Friday, July 12, Crowsnest Pass RCMP stated that Kananaskis Search and Rescue recovered the hiker’s body. The trail that was closed down in the area has since been reopened.

A man from the Czech Republic has reportedly died after being in a hiking accident on Crowsnest Mountain.

At approximately 4:30 pm on Wednesday, July 10th, RCMP were informed of the incident by EMS responders.

Kananaskis Search and Rescue, Crowsnest Pass Fire Rescue Department, the Conservation Department and Public Lands officials also helped out.

The 58-year-old was climbing with two friends at the time of the accident.

He was pronounced deceased at the scene. Efforts are still being made to recover his body.

Crowsnest Pass RCMP said they will not be releasing the name of the victim.
