Large quantities of Meth and carfentanil seized by Lethbridge Police

LETHBRIDGE, AB – A 35-year-old man has been arrested and charged with several drug related offences, after Lethbridge Police seized nearly $84,000 worth of methamphetamine, carfentanil and crack cocaine from a hotel room and vehicle.

Police say on Friday, July 12, police were at a hotel along the 2200 blk. of 7 Ave. S on an unrelated matter, when an officer recognized a vehicle from previous investigations.

Police say the vehicle’s owner had outstanding warrants and was arrested in one of the hotel rooms.

A total of 1.5 pounds of meth, a quarter pound of carfentanil, 40 grams of crack cocaine, more than $14,000 in cash, body armour, drug paraphernalia, identity documents, jewelry and some electronics were seized by police.

Michael Newman Davies has been charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of the proceeds of crime, possession of stolen property under $5,000, possession of identity documents and possession of body armour without a valid permit.

He has been remanded in custody and will be in Lethbridge court on Thursday, July 18.
