Coaldale man facing robbery and resisting arrest charges

COALDALE — A weekend robbery at a rural residence outside of Coaldale resulted in the arrest of a 37-year old Coaldale man on Tuesday (July 16).

Coaldale RCMP spent the afternoon searching for the suspect, after tips from the public directed officers to his location. The man evaded police by jumping over fences and running through several residential back yards in the town’s south-east but, he was arrested after a short pursuit.

No one was injured during the arrest and the public was not put in harms way.

During the robbery, the suspect was in the process of removing items from a garage when he was confronted by the homeowner. The suspect then pulled out a weapon and fled the area. There were no injuries during the incident.

Officers recovered numerous stolen items, including bicycles, related to this arrest. The man’s name will not be released until all charges are laid. In the meantime, he remains in custody and is expected to be charged with robbery, resisting arrest and possession of stolen property under $5000
