Man charged in fatal hit and run pleads not guilty
LETHBRIDGE, AB – A 31-year-old man charged with failing to stop or remain at the scene of a collision causing death, has pleaded not guilty in Lethbridge Provincial Court.
The plea was entered for Michael White Quills in Lethbridge Provincial Court on July 17. The Cardston resident has retained Calgary lawyer Balfour Der.
On Sept. 2, 2018. a red Dodge pickup truck was travelling southbound on Hwy 5 south of Lethbridge. An unidentified 26-year-old man from the Blood Reserve, and a woman were also walking in the same direction along the highway just south of Lethbridge towards the airport.
Coaldale RCMP say the man was hit by the Dodge, but the woman was not injured. At the time of the collision is was dark outside, but there were lights on in the area. The speed zone was 60 km/hr and the paved highway was dry. The temperature was about 11 degrees Celsius outside. Visibility did not appear to be obstructed, other than normal darkness conditions.
