Alberta’s oil production limits once again increasing in September

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Government of Alberta has announced another raised cap on oil production.

The number has risen almost every month this year from 3.56-million barrels per day in January to now 3.76-million in September.

The new limit marks an increase of 25,000 barrels per day over August.

The province says September’s limit was set to reflect the increasing movement of oil by rail, declining inventory, and improved efficiencies in export pipelines.

Former-Premier Rachel Notley created the oil production limits in December 2018 “in response to the historically high oil price differential that is costing the national economy more than $80 million per day.”
