LETHBRIDGE, AB – The University of Lethbridge Pronghorns women’s soccer team has a new look for this upcoming campaign.

The squad missed the playoffs by only four points last season after scoring a conference low six goals.

A few players have left the team after graduating from the post-secondary institution, but some players are returning.

Raeleen Vanden dungeon, who tied the team lead for goals last season, will be returning. Returning to the team is fifth year player Jesse Dueck, who took last season off.

Lucy Mundy, a midfielder from Foothills FC, joins the Pronghorns for this season.

In total, the U of L Pronghorns women’s team has 10 new faces on the roster and will start their season this weekend.

The team travels to Edmonton to face the Alberta Pandas (Saturday, Sept. 7) and the MacEwan Griffins (Sunday, Sept. 8). Both games kick-off at 12:00 p.m.

The Pronghorns will be at home next weekend to host the Victoria Vikes and UBC Thunderbirds at the University Community Stadium.

MEN’S SOCCER

The men’s soccer team has had a tough start to their season thus far. They’re 0-3-1 after dropping games last weekend against Calgary and Mount Royal.

The team has four goals scored in four games so far this season, with nine goals against.

They’re at home on Saturday, Sept. 7 hosting the Saskatchewan Huskies. Kick-off is set for 2:15 at the University Community Stadium.

Next weekend, they’ll be on the road to face the Trinity Western Spartans and UBC Thunderbirds.

WOMEN’S RUGBY

The women’s rugby team launches its 20th season in Edmonton this weekend.

They’ll face the Alberta Pandas on Sunday, Sept. 8 at 1:00 p.m.

The matchup will mark the first of a two-game series with the Pandas for the third installment of the Suggitt Cup, in memory of former coach Ric Suggitt who passed away in 2017.

The Pandas won last year’s Suggitt Cup, while the Pronghorns took the inaugural event in 2017.

The two teams will face each other in the second leg of this year’s Suggitt Cup on October 5 in Lethbridge.
