LETHBRIDGE, AB – Scott Woods has been appointed as the new Interim Police Chief in Lethbridge.

Now-former Chief Rob Davis worked his last day Thursday and is heading to Brantford, Ontario to be their new Chief of Police. More details here.

At Friday’s Police Commission meeting at Lethbridge City Hall, it was announced that, at least for now, Woods will step in to fill the role.

He has spent more than two decades in police service and is currently the Deputy Chief for LPS.

Leaders International has been hired by the City of Lethbridge to look for candidates that could fill the role permanently.

While they will be considering all applicants internally and externally, the commission could not say whether or not Woods will be considered for the Police Chief job.

The company will meet with LPS and the city next week to determine the criteria for what they should look for.

A stakeholder survey will be set up in the near future for the public to give their input on this as well.

The commission hopes to have a new permanent chief selected in about three months’ time.
