DAY 6 ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL

The sixth day of the federal election campaign sees the Green party unveiling its full platform. Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau is blitzing southwestern Ontario, and promising his first question-and-answer session in front of reporters since Friday. NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh is in Quebec for a second day. Andrew Sheer’s Conservative campaign hits the Okanagan and then moves on to relatively friendly ground in Calgary. And People’s Party Leader Maxime Bernier moves on from campaigning in his home riding in Quebec, beginning a series of meet-and-greets with candidates in New Brunswick.

SCHOOL BOARD OFFERS SUPPORTS TO STUDENTS AFTER MASS SHOOTING

A school board west of Toronto has additional supports in place today for students who lost one of their own in a weekend shooting. The Peel District School Board says a 17-year-old boy killed outside an apartment building in Mississauga, Ont., Saturday evening was a Grade 12 student at Lincoln M. Alexander Secondary School. Five others were wounded in the attack, including a 13-year-old girl, a 16-year-old boy and two other 17-year-old boys. Police are still looking for at least seven suspects accused of indiscriminately firing more than 100 shots into a parkette. They say the boy who died was an innocent bystander.

10 CANADIAN ALBUMS CONTEND FOR POLARIS PRIZE

Five Quebecois music acts, a Top 40 singer and well-travelled punk rockers from Toronto are among those vying for the Polaris Music Prize tonight. Ten albums stand to win the $50,000 prize, decided by an 11-member jury of journalists, broadcasters and bloggers who will choose the best Canadian album in closed-door deliberations during the gala. They include Jessie Reyez’s EP “Being Human in Public,” which features appearances by fellow pop performers Normani and Kehlani, and Inuk singer Elisapie’s multilingual exploration of her past on “The Ballad of the Runaway Girl.” Each runner-up receives $3,000.
