UPDATE: Package in West Lethbridge no longer “suspicious”

LETHBRIDGE, AB – UPDATE (4:45 pm): Lethbridge Police say the package left on the doorstep of a home along Silkstone Point is non-suspicious.

“As the package poses no risk, roads in the area are being re-opened and police are clearing the scene,” reads a media release from Lethbridge Police Service.

The service is thanking the public for their patience and cooperation.

No further information will be released as the matter is non-criminal.

The exact address was not provided, but officials say that roads in the immediate vicinity have been closed as a safety precaution.

Members of the public are asked to avoid the area for the time being.

The Lethbridge School Division says the families of students who reside in the area or who attend Chinook High School and Catholic Central High West Campus will be contacted by their school regarding transportation home.
