Canes nab 3-1 win in second game of home-and-home against the Tigers
MEDICINE HAT — In their opening game of the season, the Tigers came from behind to down the Hurricanes in a 4-3 shootout Friday night in Lethbridge. However, the second game of the home-and-home Saturday night in Medicine Hat belonged to the Canes.
The Canes came out on the defensive and just over three minutes into the game, Alex Cotton tallied his first goal of the season, assisted by Zack Stringer and D-Jay Jerome.
The only other action in the first frame was a roughing penalty for the Tigers’ Trevor Longo, meaning the Canes went into the next 20 minutes with a 1-0 lead.
The quiet second period produced a couple of minor penalties against Calen Anderson and Dino Kambeitz and the next goal didn’t materialize until a minute before the buzzer. Noah Boyko slid the puck through the pipes on an assist from Alex Thacker and the Canes were up 2-0.
