LPS and K-9 unit track and arrest armed B-and-E suspect

LETHBRIDGE — Police officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Fairmont Rd South around 5:00 Saturday (Oct 5) morning, after receiving a report of a man breaking into a home and being caught by the homeowner.

The suspect fled the scene on foot when confronted by the homeowner at the door.

A review of video surveillance determined the suspect was also in possession of a butcher knife.

A K-9 unit with PSD Robby was called out to track the suspect, who was found hiding beside a vehicle in the area. The suspect refused to comply with the officers’ directions and PSD Robby was deployed to make the apprehension.

The suspect continued to resist arrest, but officers were able to handcuff the man. A Butcher knife was located on the ground where he was arrested.

20-year old Mitchell Shot Both Sides was treated and released at the Chinook Regional Hospital.

He has been charged with three counts of attempted break and enter, break and enter, possessing a dangerous weapon and resisting arrest and is in custody awaiting a Judicial Interim Release hearing.
