Thank you from the Slingerlands – Corn Maze was another amazing success

LETHBRIDGE — The 20th Annual Slingerland corn maze near Park Lake held another successful season with a special Thanksgiving fundraising event on Monday (Oct 20).

Every year, the Slingerlands donate all the admission charges from the day to a worthy cause or individual they support. This year, all proceeds of admission will go to the Thiessen family in Mango, Togo, where Surgeon Jesh Thiessen, has been sent by Samaritan’s Purse to the Hospital of Hope to work with those in need of medical assistance. The hospital sees around 3,000 patients from Ghana, Burkina Faso and Benin each year, while its doctors and surgeons visit another 20,000 people as outpatients.

On Monday, despite the damp weather, the Slingerlands raised an impressive $3641 for Jesh Thiessen and his family.

This year’s corn maze design honours the 75th anniversary of Juno Beach D-Day. In years past, the corn maze has been paid tribute to the loonie, toonie, the High-Level Bridge and Alberta’s birthday.

The corn maze will remain open until Oct. 26. The Slingerland farm will close for a month and then in December, then do “Christmas on the Farm’ every Friday and Saturday night, with light shows, hay rides and bon fires with hot chocolate and apple cider.

If you liked the corn maze, you’ll like Christmas on the Farm.
