Former Prime Minister Paul Martin to receive honorary Doctor of Laws at U of L Fall Convocation
LETHBRIDGE, AB – A former Canadian prime minister will be at the University of Lethbridge Saturday, to receive an honorary Doctor of Laws degree during the Fall 2019 Convocation.
Paul Martin was the Liberal Prime Minister from 2003 to 2006 and Federal Finance Minister between 1993 and 2002.
University of Lethbridge Chancellor Charles Weaselhead says Martin has long been a strong advocated for eliminating the gaps between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians in the areas of health, education, housing and economic opportunity.
“His work since leaving office has largely been focused on the Martin Family Initiative (MFI) and its support of Indigenous communities across the nation. We’re extremely pleased to honour his vision of a strong, inclusive nations for all Canadians.”
