LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge College is one of many schools across the world taking part in the fourth International Day of Action against Contract Cheating.

Contract Cheating is when a student hires a third party to contribute to or finish an assignment for them, with the student taking credit for the work. Contracted parties can be paid or unpaid.

The goal of the day is to promote academic honesty. According to a release from Lethbridge College, research from North American colleges and universities shows that as many as 93 percent of students admit to committing some kind of academic dishonesty.

Between 3.5 and close to 16 percent of students say they have taken part in contract cheating.

Staff from Lethbridge College’s Centre for Teaching, Learning and Innovation, the schools Students’ Association, Lethbridge College Faculty Association and the Student Affairs team will help bring attention to the importance of academic honesty and the risks and seriousness of acts such as contract cheating.

There will be different activities on-campus and on-line throughout the day at Lethbridge College.
