Two men charged in connection with alleged hotel robbery

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge Police have charged two men in connection with a robbery at a the Superlodge Hotel on Wednesday night and a search warrant executed on a home in south Lethbridge Thursday morning.

32-year old Corey Nelson Amyotte and 29-year-old Kyle James Youngpine have both been charged with one count each of robbery, unlawful confinement and of wearing a disguise in the commission of an offence.

Amyotte remains in jail and is expected to appear in court October 25, 2019. Youngpine was released on a recognizance and is scheduled to appear in court November 8.

According to Lethbridge Police, around 7 p.m. Wednesday night (Oct. 16), a 28-year-old man told them he’d been robbed of his wallet, clothes, cellphone and vaping items at gunpoint. Lethbridge Police got a suspect vehicle description and tracked it to a home in south Lethbridge, in the Six Mile Coulee area. The vehicle left the home and was tracked to Exhibition park, where police then later arrested several people.

The stolen items, say police, were recovered at that time.

A search warrant was obtained for the house, where police gathered additional evidence early Thursday morning. Two women were initially arrested at the home. One was later released.
